Bordering the Heidelberg and Rosanna Golf Clubs, Viewbank itself offers a range of outdoor adventure and sporting facilities with beautiful cycling and walks along tranquil trails that wind their way through expansive grassy wetlands—home to a large population of kangaroos. History
Named after a local former farming property established in the 1840s, Viewbank still exhibits many remnants from the past including the historic silos on Banyule Road. Although this suburb has a short residential history, with housing developments booming in the 1990s and 2000s, true community expansion began in the 1960s. Some more notable individuals and families attracted to the area’s lush riverside environment include Australian aerial freestyle dual Olympian medal winner Alisa Camplin; and Tamsyn Manou—an Australian middle-distance runner who has won 17 Australian championships including the World Indoor Championship in 2008. Both Alisa Camplin and Tamsyn Manou attended Viewbank Primary School.
